The expansion of the Kimball Township Fire Department's building is expected to be completed later than originally planned and at a higher cost.
It might look like the building is non-functioning, but firefighters are still taking calls, going out to their trucks across the street when there's an emergency. Fire Chief Ed Gratz said it's a challenging time, but his staff is working through the transition smoothly.
New truck bays are framed by naked steel beams at present, but brick walls will cover them by the end of the month.
