Clay Township Fire Chief Daryl DuPage has a renewed three-year contract with the township. The contract offers DuPage a 2 percent pay increase each year with his salary beginning at $61,650. Contracts for the other city department heads were approved in June. The delay in renewal of Dupage’s contract was due to his political aspirations in Ira Township. “If elected, there could have been a conflict of interest between the two townships,” said Clay Township Supervisor Artie Bryson. “We waited to see if that was a possible issue.” He ran for the township supervisor position during the primaries, but lost to the incumbent.
