Flint firefighters donned pink Breast Cancer Awareness Month shirts on Monday, Oct. 24, to show support and remembrance of the lives and families that have been impacted by breast cancer.
The event was held at Fire Station 1 in honor of Alicia McLain-Holland, who passed away five years ago from the disease.
For her son, Sgt. Frank McLain, of the Flint Fire Department, the event was a way to honor his mother and others who have battled the disease.
"My mother passed away from breast cancer five years ago in September," McLain said. "The idea for this event was for firefighters to show support for women and everybody whose going through the same battle my mother went through."
