Milford Township officials believe a fresh perspective will benefit the fire department. Last week, the township’s Board of Trustees agreed to hire a consultant to provide feedback and guidance to the department for up to six months before a permanent chief is hired. The decision came at the behest of Milford Police Chief Tom Lindberg, who has been at the helm during a "fire department evaluation period," put into play after Fire Chief Larry Waligora was placed on paid administrative in April. At the time, Supervisor Don Green said he was not able to disclose a reason for Waligora's removal. Last week, Green confirmed Waligora is still being paid, pending his retirement in October.
