People who reside in Mullett Township will now be able to purchase a lock box from either of its fire departments which will hold a house key and be mounted on the outside of their doors. The goal of this program is to assist the firefighters and paramedics in gaining rapid entry into a home in the event of an emergency, saving time and property by by reducing the need for forced entry. “It is a great benefit to have a nondestructive entry method for EMS assist calls or alarms without obvious signs of fire,” said Topinabee Fire Chief Mike English, who also works for Cheboygan Life Support Systems Ambulance. “It’s definitely a potential cost and time savings.”
