In an effort to continue faster and more efficient patient care service for Washington Township, Fire Chief Brian Tyrell received approval for a new system for his fire department. At the April 19 Board of Trustees meeting, the board unanimously approved a new software system aimed at continuing the transfer of dispatch services to the Macomb County Communication and Technology Center (COMTEC) in Mount Clemens. Decreased liability exposure, reduced response times and putting more firefighter/paramedics in the field rather than fielding dispatch calls were among the reasons the Washington Fire Department opted to switch to COMTEC in February.
