Police identified the 18-year-old Lansing man who drowned at the Spring Mill Pond in Green Oak Township on Sunday as Caelond Travis Pearson. Green Oak Township police said Pearson had been floating on a personal inflatable raft when he fell into the water while floating outside the marked swim area at the pond in the Island Lake State Park around 7:20 p.m. Police said the Lansing man, whose family members witnessed the drowning, could not swim. Members of the Livingston County Dive Team located the Lansing man’s body in water about 24 feet deep and about 35 yards from shore. He was removed from the water after having been submerged beneath the surface for about one-hour and 45 minutes. His identity was not released pending notification of all family members.
