A house fire in Auburn Hills claimed the life of a 77-year-old woman late Friday.
An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fire that killed Sharon Meer, the owner of the home at 4011 Bald Mountain Road. Foul play is not suspected, said Assistant Fire Chief Antonio Macias, and careless smoking is a possibility.
The fire was contained to Meer’s bedroom, who was dead at the scene.
Two other occupants of the house escaped without injury. Fire crews found light smoke coming from the front door of the house when they arrived at 11:24 p.m.
