A house fire killed a husband and wife Friday morning in Novi.
According to police, the fire started around 7:23 a.m. at the residence located at 1811 East Lake Drive.
Barbara Garner, 61, and Kenneth Garner, 66, were found dead on the second floor by fire crews from Novi and Walled Lake, who assisted in extinguishing the flames.
According to WDIV, the fire started in the basement and spread throughout the house. Investigators are checking to see if the house’s furnace caused the fire, although the preliminary cause is undetermined, according to police.
