Curious to see how the new thermal imaging cameras work on every Flint Fire Department engine?
Watch the video above as Flint Fire Quartermaster Rico Phillips walks through how a firefighter uses the device to see in a completely dark environment to locate heat signatures in a room.
After a successful grant from the Hundred Club of Genesee, Shiawasee and Lapeer Counties, thermal imaging cameras will now be on every Flint Fire Department engine. The $5,200 grant allowed the department to buy four thermal imaging cameras, the city said in a statement.
Thermal imaging cameras detect emitted heat and energy and are a tool firefighters use to locate where fire is at, officials said.
