The cities of Lansing and East Lansing plan to study combined ambulance services and the consolidation of some fire administrative positions. East Lansing City Council is expected to vote Tuesday on a $52,000 contract with Plante Moran to study the feasibility of a fire authority between the two cities, East Lansing City Manager George Lahanas said. Lansing would pay half of the study's contract cost. The study comes about five years after the cities agreed to share Fire Chief Randall Talifarro, and follows several years of discussion regarding regional collaboration among fire departments.
