Firefighters from multiple agencies were called to assist the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department in battling a fully-engulfed house fire at the dead end of an icy rural Isabella County road Wednesday evening. Flames were showing at the home at the end of Valley Road east of Chippewa when firefighters were dispatched at around 4 p.m. said Tribal Fire Chief Fred Cantu. By 5:30 p.m. personnel and trucks from Mt. Pleasant, Shepherd Tri-Township, Isabella North East and Lee Township fire departments were assisting in fighting the house fire as smoke poured from the roof where flames were showing.
