Ten firefighters received a unit citation for their response to a midnight fire and four new firefighters were sworn-in at the South Lyon City Council meeting last week. South Lyon Fire Chief Mike Kennedy recognized the actions of South Lyon Fire Department employees who battled a structure fire at 12:14 a.m. June 16 at Water’s Edge Apartments, 664 Lakewood Drive. Units arrived to find a first-floor apartment fire on the rear bedroom window that was also traveling up the vinyl siding into the attic.
