A Detroit Beach home sustained significant water and smoke damage after a fire broke out early Thursday. Crews from Frenchtown Township Fire Department responded to the fire in the 3000 block of Fifth St., which ignited just before 3 a.m. A neighbor called Monroe County Central Dispatch after seeing flames. Frenchtown Township Fire Chief Wendy Stevens said the department received additional man power from Berlin, the City of Monroe and Estral Beach to fight the blaze. The homeowner was not at home at the time of the fire and no one was injured in the incident.
