The morning of Nov. 16 marked a historic day in Taylor as the Fire Department starting transporting medical patients after a more than 6-year hiatus. “For the past six and a half years we’ve continued that relationship with HealthLink,” Mayor Rick Sollars said in June when the City Council approved the plan to go back to transporting. “Through some negotiations, we reached a point where we thought that we were doing more and receiving less.” In the ensuing months after the vote the department has had to hire several firefighters, and buy and built out two new ambulances to use for transporting duties.
