Emergency crews responded to a fire shortly after noon Tuesday at Magnum Coffee Roastery, 1 Java Blvd. in Nunica. A report that came across the scanner said flames were visible on the roof. Firefighters from Crockery Township, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg responded to the business located along M-104 east of 130th Avenue. The three departments have an automatic response agreement in case of a structure fire. A Magnum Coffee official said some chaff (a byproduct of coffee roasting) caught on fire when it came out the stack. He said there was no fire in the duct work or in the building.
