If people and property owners feel a bit safer soon in the South Haven area, there's a big, new, red reason for it. South Haven Area Emergency Services has taken delivery of a new 75-foot ladder truck. The vehicle, manufactured by Spencer Manufacturing of South Haven, will replace a 50-foot ladder truck the department has used for the past 31 years. The new truck was purchased at a cost of $778,000 with funds regularly set aside by South Haven Area Emergency Services. It is accompanied by a purchase of more than $57,600 in new loose equipment.
