A total of six fire departments, including Emmett Township, Marshall, Fredonia Township, Bellevue, Pennfield Township and Marengo Township, are responding to an out-of-control brush fire in Marshall near L Drive North that started around 1 p.m. According to Marshall Township Fire Chief Steve Riggs, a controlled burn that got out of hand due to wind conditions at 14693 L Drive North has now burned upwards of 25 acres. Although the fire is mostly under control now, fire officials are still working to get it under control. "The biggest challenge we've had is wind," Riggs said. "It's going one direction and we're fighting the fire and before you know it, it changes direction. That makes it hard to get everything under control."
