On Saturday morning, Emmet County first responders practiced how to react if a school bus route goes wrong.
Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet Office of Emergency Management and Resort-Bear Creek Fire Department sponsored a live mass casualty training at Click Road Soccer Complex in Petoskey.
More than 30 Petoskey students were in a toppled-over bus, and it was up to the Resort-Bear Creek and Petoskey fire departments to get the kids out of the bus.
"We have a new tracking system. That was the main goal: using this E-M tracking. We can track the patients from the scene to the hospital. That was the main part of this. The second part was actually being able to extricate those students from the bus and have accountability of them, and making sure that we have that."
