129 years is how long the City of Manistee Fire Department has been operating for 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. That impressive lifespan could potentially earn them a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Five clicks followed by four clicks, means the fire was near Telegraph Station 54. The City of Manistee Fire Station does some things a little differently now, but in the same building with the same woodwork since the 1800’s, it’s been mostly untouched. “I think it’s a tribute to the guys who’ve come before me, they’ve served proudly and a long tradition, a lot of heritage here, a proud history preserving the station,” said Fred LaPoint. “You don’t see stations like this every day.” “We still have the existing hose tower that they use today,” he said.
