The source of an underground natural gas leak in Mt. Morrish has been tracked to a service line to a business in the city. Mt. Morris fire Chief Michael Vogt, the city's public information officer, confirmed an underground service line leading to Old Time Billiards, 11745 N. Saginaw St., sprung a leak. Consumers Energy located the source of the leak Sunday, Aug. 12 and the line "has been made safe and will be repaired in the coming days," said Vogt Sunday evening. The incident began around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 when Mt. Morris firefighters were called out to investigate a possible leak in the area of North Saginaw and Mt. Morris streets. "During our investigation dangerously high levels of natural gas were detected in and around several businesses located in the southwestern corner of the intersection," said Mt. Morris fire Chief Michael Vogt. "Temporary evacuation and closure orders were issued to the businesses and a small apartment building located in the area."
