The process toward construction of a new Charlevoix Township Fire Station took another step forward Monday with awarding of a contract for construction management to Integrity Construction Services of Gaylord.
Charlevoix Township trustees agreed to award the contract after hearing from Ed Hunt, president and manager of Integrity, during the Dec. 10 meeting.
The construction manager essentially assumes the role of coordinating the various functions and "managing" the project to include working closely with the design architect and managing all of the practical details, Hunt said.
“Construction management services entails taking the project from where it is now all the way through completion,” he said.
The township will pay Integrity $199,000 for preconstruction services and construction phase services.
