A Washtenaw County family is picking up the pieces after two fires within 24 hours destroyed an Augusta Township home.
Abigail Eichhorn, 17, was in class the morning of Thursday, Feb. 15 when her uncle and grandfather pulled her out of school and told her the bad news. Her family's home in Augusta Township had experienced its second fire in two days and was destroyed.
"They told me our house wasn't there anymore," she said. "It's terrible. It was still OK after yesterday, but now it's not OK anymore."
Officials were called at 9:58 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 to a reported structure fire at 5340 Bemis Road.
