Firefighters responded to a fire at Rupp Funeral Home in Monroe Township Friday. Crews were called to the scene at 2345 S. Custer Rd. just after 8 a.m. after reports of heavy smoke coming from the basement. When fire crews arrived, no smoke or flames were visible. Monroe Township Fire Chief Larry Merkle said it appears the fire is related to an electrical panel in the basement. Firefighters evacuated the building. “There’s nothing for anyone to worry about,” Polly Rupp-Wehner of Rupp Funeral Home said later. “It was just a small electrical fire in the basement, everything was contained to the basement.
