One person is dead after a house fire late Saturday night on the border of Port Huron and Kimball townships. Deputies with the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office responded shortly after 10:30 p.m. Feb. 17 to the 1700 block of Range Road, near Ashley Road, for reports of smoking coming from a residence. Smoke and flames were spotted by deputies upon arriving at the scene. Deputies forced entry into the home, but they could not safely enter to locate any occupants, according to a sheriff's office news release. Firefighters from the Kimball Township, Marysville, and Memphis fire departments arrived at the scene to put out the flames and search for anyone that may have been inside the residence.
