Marijuana plants were found inside an old church after a fire broke out there Monday night. The Flint Fire Department was called at 9:45 p.m., Feb. 19, to 1801 Lewis Place, near Kearsley Park, for reports of a fire, according to Battalion Chief Steve Cobb. When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the basement of the building, Cobb said. "There were a few pot plants found out there," Cobb said. "The state police have been keeping an eye on the place for a month or two. That didn't contribute to the fire." He said the building used to be an old church, but had been vacant.
