A fire caused significant damage to a vacant house near Ann Arbor on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Authorities responded about 10:08 a.m. Wednesday to a home near the corner of Geddes and Gale Roads in Superior Township for a report of a structure fire, Superior Township Fire Chief Vic Chevrette said. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the house and made entry through the front door. Firefighters had the blaze contained and out after a short period, Chevrette said. The house, which was vacant, is owned by 66-year-old David Hopkinson. Hopkinson lived at the home for 25 years and has been trying to sell it for the last two years. He was at his current house in East Lansing when he got the phone call and drove out.
