The Palmyra Township Fire Department is getting some new equipment and selling off an old piece of gear. The township board voted Thursday to approve the purchase of a new blitz fire nozzle for the fire department. The nozzle is kept at the end of a hose in order to speed the department’s reaction to a fire. Firefighters don’t have to find a nozzle or connect it to a hose. The department already has one of the nozzles on a pumper and wanted to add the same equipment to a tanker. The nozzle cost $32,095 from First Due Fire Supply of Mason. It offered one of two quotes sent to the fire department. Clerk Christine Whited said the fire department preferred to buy from the Mason firm because it has purchased equipment from First Due before.
