Gaines Township fire officials say they don't know what caused a brush fire off Baldwin Road, behind someone's home. It happened near St. Joseph's Cemetery. Neighbors say they noticed a fire around 5 P.M. on Thursday when they called 911. Their biggest worry was that it would spread. Firefighters were at the scene four at least four hours. First responders say they got mutual aid from at least four companies. They say at least 30 acres burned from flames up to four-feet high. Firefighters say it was so hard to get the fire out because everything was dry and the high winds blew it rapidly.
