A fire, possibly sparked by an electrical problem caused damage to exterior and kitchen area of a home near downtown Boyne City Thursday. Firefighters from the Boyne City Fire Deparment were called to 320 South Lake St. at about 11:15 a.m. when a firefighter who happened to by driving by radioed to dispatchers at 911 that there was a fire at that location, Boyne City assistant fire chief Jack Bush said. Boyne City fire officials called on the Boyne Valley Township Fire Department for assistance with additional firefighters. Bush said it took firefighters about 15-20 minutes to put the bulk of the fire out. Boyne City Police Department Police Chief Jeff Gaither said when he arrived on scene shortly after the dispatch smoke had filled the street in front of the home.
