A thick black plume of smoke could be seen from more than three miles away as firefighters in Buena Vista Township fought a house fire on Thursday, March 22. Firefighters were dispatched to the home on 27th near Whittier after 5:30 p.m. for a report of a garage fire. The fire spread to the rest of the house, according to firefighters. It was the second time they were called out to the home in less than an hour. Firefighters were first dispatched about 4:55 p.m. for a report of a grass fire. The home was abandoned and there was a yard fire earlier at the home, according to officials and neighbors. No injuries were reported. Firefighters did not have additional information immediately available.
