Employees at the Saginaw County Department of Public Health and emergency workers teamed up to prepare for a situation they hope never happens. Thursday morning the office building on Michigan Avenue across from Covenant HealthCare was closed to the public so the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police, firefighters, paramedics and others could take part in an active shooter drill. "This is the first time that we've had law enforcement come in and practice their entry, taking victims out and transporting them to the hospitals," said Christina Harrington, the health officer at SCDPH. Harrington and her co-workers train for situations such as an active shooter from time to time, but this was the first time outside agencies have joined in. Police aim to make it as realistic as possible.
