Members of the Cutlerville Fire ad hoc committee met for the second time Friday looking to come to decisions on the jointly operated department's future.
The committee, composed of three representatives from Gaines Township and three from Byron Township, discussed creating a police precinct for Kent County Sheriff's Department services, hiring a third-party consultant to examine public safety costs, and the possibility of forming a district or authority to manage the Cutlerville Fire Department. No concrete decisions were made.
The committee was formally created at the beginning of last month with the stated intention of examining Cutlerville's finances, but during the two meetings held so far, committee members have focused on a range of topics.
