The Troy Fire Department recently freed a woman who was trapped in her vehicle after it crashed into parked cars at the Troy Motor Mall.
The woman’s van had left the roadway at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, and landed in the parking lot of the motor mall, on Maple Road at Maplelawn. She was alone in the vehicle.
Firefighters, discovering that the woman was trapped between the seat and the engine console and that her feet were entangled behind the brake pedal. used the Jaws of Life to open the driver’s door and to force the driver’s seat away from the dashboard.
Simultaneously, a hydraulic ram was used to force the top of the seat back to allow better access to the patient.
Once removed, the woman was treated and transported to a hospital. Her condition is unknown. Troy police are investigating the accident and its cause.
