A joint investigation is underway after an early morning trailer fire in Covert claimed the life of a man in his mid-70s. Sheriff Dan Abbott told Newschannel 3 a trailer at 29620 76th street in Covert Township caught fire around 7 a.m. Friday. Police are identifying the deceased as 75-year-old Jerry Lee Rawson. The South Haven Fire Department, Michigan State Police Van Buren County Sheriff's Department and Watervliet Fire Department assisted Covert firefighters on the call. No other information has been released at this time. Newschannel 3 has a crew headed to the scene.
