A woman died and a man was seriously injured in a house fire early Thursday morning in Hillsdale County's Wheatland Township.
Fire and rescue crews were called sometime before 4:30 a.m., Nov. 15, to the fire at 11200 Church Road, according to the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office.
A Michigan State Police Fire Marshall at the scene reported the woman was found dead inside the home and the man was taken to The University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor to be treated for severe injuries.
The home was declared a total loss. The names of the victims are not being released at this time, police said.
The cause of the fire is unknown and the incident is still under investigation.
Addison Fire and Ambulance, Somerset Township Fire Department and Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.
