Violence on a high school campus can't be predicted, but it can be prepared for.
That was the premise for a huge training exercise at Grand Ledge High School Tuesday night.
Law enforcement, fire firefighters, paramedics and other first responders took part in a so-called act of violence response training where they role-played several situations.
Grand Ledge Fire Chief Rodney VanDeCasteele says keeping up with training like this is important so that emergency responders are ready for anything.
"Nobody knows when this is going to happen. Nobody knows where it's going to happen. So the better we can train, the more often we can train for something like this, the more prepared that we're going to be," VanDeCasteele said.
The chief says if a violent incident were to happen at Grand Ledge High School, Tuesday night's training helps provide a blueprint for how all the different agencies can work together efficiently to keep students safe.
