A woman died and a firefighter was hurt after a house fire in St. Paul early Thursday morning. Firefighters were called to the 1800 block of Lacrosse Avenue at about 1:45 a.m. after a neighbor reported the fire. "The neighbor's dog was barking, woke him up, looked outside and saw the house next door to him, practically fully involved," St. Paul Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Mike Gaede said. When firefighters arrived, they discovered the fire had burned through the front door. Officials said a person inside was found unconscious and was taken to Regions Hospital in serious condition. The fire department said after 30 minutes of continued CPR at the hospital, the female victim was pronounced dead.
