A St. Peter family lost their home in a fire on Saturday evening. David and Denise Peters, along with their two children, had just moved into the house at 40709 Ottawa Road in Kasota Township a few months ago. According to a news release from the Le Sueur County sheriff, deputies and Kasota Fire Department responded around 5:15 p.m. They found the house “completely engulfed in flames.” Crews from six fire departments did extinguish the fire, but deemed the house a total loss. The family’s dog and two cats died in the blaze that gutted the home, but no people were in the house at the time of the fire, the release said.
