The U.S. Coast Guard recently identified several gaps in resources in the port of Duluth and Superior.
But now both fire departments will have an extra boost.
“We will train with Superior Fire Department at some point, so they get an understanding of what the vessel’s capability is and where it’d be most useful in their area, but it will be manned by Duluth firefighters,” said DFD Captain Scott Kleive.
That will come in the form of a 31 foot long and 10 foot wide aluminum vessel and it’s been dubbed the All Hazard Quick Response Vessel.
Having this tool will allow both departments to respond to firefighting, search and rescue and environmental capabilities on the water.
