Two people were injured in a fire that destroyed a three-story house in Virginia on Saturday afternoon. The Virginia Fire Department responded to a call of a house on fire on the 500 block of 8½ Street shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday. The house had a large amount of flames on the main floor when fire crews arrived, Virginia Fire Battalion Chief Kevin Poffs said. Virginia Fire Chief Allen Lewis told WDIO-TV that the house was a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The occupants were out of the home when fire crews arrived. Two residents were transported to Essentia Health-Virginia Clinic for possible smoke inhalation and heat injuries, Poffs said. The American Red Cross is assisting three adults and three dogs following the fire.
