A home in Albert Lea is destroyed after catching fire over the weekend. Crews responded to a report of a home on fire at 601 East 5th Street at 8 p.m. Saturday. When firefighters arrived, the fire had already burned through the first and second floor of the home. Fire officials say no one was home at the time of the fire. Crews remained on scene for about 6 hours to fully extinguish the fire. Cost in damage is estimated at $100,000. The cause remains under investigation.
