Authorities in a Twin Cities suburb say a bystander came to the rescue of a teenage girl who apparently caught on fire near a gasoline pump. Shoreview Fire Chief Tim Boehlke says the bystander used an extinguisher to douse the flames on the 17-year-old after she ran into the Quik Stop store at 5910 Lexington Ave. N. in Shoreview around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. Other customers also jumped in to help. The same bystander also put out flames near the pumps before fire crews arrived. The fire chief says authorities have a good lead on the good samaritan's identity. Boehlke tells KARE 11 that his investigators have "a clear understanding of what happened" that resulted in the teen starting on fire, but wouldn't give details as the investigation is ongoing, and of a sensitive nature. Ramsey County Sheriff's investigators are also working the case.
