Oil storage and transportation company Magellan Midstream Partners reports third-party excavation equipment is responsible for a 500-barrel gas leak that occurred in one of its pipelines Monday afternoon in Eagan. A release from the company stated the leak occurred around 1 p.m. in a 12-inch pipeline that is used to transport petroleum products from Rosemount to Minneapolis. Five-hundred barrels amounts to as much as 21,000 gallons of spilled gasoline. The company said emergency responders remained on the scene, several nearby businesses, including a Lifetime Fitness, had been evacuated and roads in the area were temporarily closed.
