A Grand Lake Township home is a total loss after a fire razed the structure Tuesday afternoon.
The call came in at about 3 p.m. when a neighboring resident noticed flames as he was driving by, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. The home, located at 5555 Bergstrom Junction Road, north of Twig, was engulfed in flames when deputies arrived.
According to a news release, no one was home at the time of the fire except two dogs, which were not located and are believed to have perished in the fire. The neighboring resident who called 911 attempted to break a window because he could hear a dog barking from inside, but had to back away due to the extreme heat from the fire, the news release said.
