A driver smashed into the front porch of a home around 3:48 p.m. Wednesday at 4216 Grand Ave. Capt. Matt Johnson of Duluth Fire-Rescue said the weight of the porch overhang was being supported by a single beam after the incident. "I thought the house got hit by lightning. The whole house shook," tenant Joe John said. John was a couple feet from the front door when the car hit. According to Duluth police, no one was injured in the incident when the woman driving the car left the roadway and hit the front porch of the house. The driver is under investigation for driving while intoxicated.
