A church in the Piedmont neighborhood of Duluth suffered an estimated $75,000 in damage in a fire caused by a lightning strike.
The Duluth Fire Department says it happened at Christ Lutheran Church on Ensign Street, around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. Carolyn Lofald, the president of the church, heard the strike from her home a few blocks away.
"Within five minutes, we heard the fire trucks. I thought, please Lord, take care over whoever that's going to. Then, five minutes later I was getting a phone call. And another five minutes, I was here," she recalled.
