Earlier Thursday afternoon, Rochester Fire Department responded to a farm field in Northeast Rochester where they found an anhydrous ammonia nurse tank leaking.
No one was hurt and no evacuations were necessary.
According to RFD, the nurse tank was leaking a small amount of anhydrous ammonia from a valve and onto the ground.
They said there was no immediate threat to life or to the property. The field was at Viola Road NE and 40th Avenue NE.
Rochester firefighters put on their protective equipment and breathing breathing apparatus before stopping the leak.
They were able to stop the leak without incident.
"We responded, deemed that there was no immediate threat. It was in a field not harming anyone or anything, so we have taken our time and stopped the leak safely," said Captain Caleb Feine. "With where we're at today and the weather conditions this was just a great scenario for us to take our time, do things safely, mitigate the situation without really, with very little danger."
