Jeremy Coy said he took a lot of tangible and intangible things from his time in the military. Things like camaraderie, pride, hard work, being able to think on your feet, physical strength and mental strength are some of the things that come to his mind. “It kind of opens your eyes to different parts of the world and how different cultures live,” he said. Coy, an Eden Prairie resident, is one of three veterans who will be recognized at Eden Prairie’s Memorial Day celebration at Purgatory Creek Park. The other veterans who will be honored are John Sorich and Mathew Stulz...Coy decided to go back to Normandale to pursue being a paramedic after getting out of the military. After a year, he transferred to Inver Hills Community College where he earned an associate of science as a paramedic. Coy said while he was in school in 2004, he met some people who were planning to take the St. Paul Fire Department entrance exam and asked if he wanted to come along. He took his Fire 1 and Fire 2 classes but didn’t get hired in St. Paul until 2007. Prior to that he worked at the Mystic Lake Fire Department and as a paramedic for Hennepin County Medical Center.
