Firefighters from the Minneapolis Fire Department saved three fishermen who were swept off a spillway at Minnehaha Regional Park after heavy rain Thursday night.
According to the department's Capt. Staffan Swanson, the three men were fishing on the spillway on Minnehaha Creek. Because of the heavy rain, water overtook the three, pushing them off the spillway.
Swanson said the three were able to cling to a gate on the spillway and yell for help.
Firefighters created harnesses using rope and were able to successfully bring the men to safety, according to Swanson.
All victims were checked and found to be without injury.
